It is again expected that prices of petrol ,diesel and others fuels will increase on 16 July 2025 the federal government is expected to increase a petrol price hike of Rs +6.25 per litre starting from July 16, 2025 which is due to global oil market fluctuations and domestic policies. This all increase in fuels follows a recent increase on July 1, 2025, which increase petrol prices by Rs. 8.36 to Rupees 266.79 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs. 10.39 to Rs. 272.98 per litre and kerosine oil increase to Rs 184.43 .

Levy on Fuel price
The federal government is expected to increase the petroleum prices for the second half of July 2025 if new taxes have come in effect for the approval of the budget for next fiscal year 2025-26.The federal government announced the levy on petroleum products of Rs 77 per litre and Rs 5 per litre carbon levy on the furnace oil with the Rs 2.5 per litre tax on petrol price and on 16 July 2025. as Pakistan’s economy is grappling with 30% to 40 % inflation and a weakening rupee. It affects the business reliant on fuel for transportation and operation the increase in fuel will affect pressure on the consumers and the relevant business.

Global Oil changes:
Global oil prices change due a recent dip in Brent crude at $67.65 per barrel, down 0.18% on 7 July 2025, earlier spikes due to Middle East tensions and airstrikes have kept international rates volatile and this is the reason behind prices increasing again.
decrease in Currency Depreciation:
The Pakistani rupee weakened slightly from 282.41 to 283.63 against the US dollar in late June, increasing import costs for oil, which is traded in dollars and now again prices increase and it will affect the rupees.
Tax Policies:
The federal government changed fuel prices and imposed a Rs. 2.5 per litre carbon levy and Rs. 78 per litre Petroleum Development Levy tax on petrol due to the 2025–26 budget.
Transport issues
If Petrol or diesel price increases it will affect transportation systems as vehicles run on Petrol and diesel so increase in petrol and diesel price will increase the tax on the system and increase the rates and affect other aspects.
